Most of the tourist spots in the Andaman Islands have a signboard at the entrance of the beach, island, or museum that has all the dos and don’ts and other important notices.

COVID SAFETY MEASURES

The administration of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is taking various measures to eradicate Corona Virus and secure safety for the tourists and the islanders.

  1. The tourists must carry a negative RTPCR report, which has to be from within 48 before starting the journey. Also, a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) test is conducted at the Airport.
  2. A social of at least two meters is to be maintained at public places and tourist spots.
  3.  Tickets for various tourist sectors are issued in one mode only to avoid contact.
  4. Light and Sound show in Cellular Jail and Ross Island will operate with 50% of their capacity to maintain social distancing.
  5. Wearing masks in public places is mandatory.
  6. Beaches are open from 10 AM to 5 PM.
  7. Tourists and public places are regularly sanitized.
  8. For traveling inter-island, tourists should carry the RTPCR report.
  9. In case any symptoms emerge, the tourist has to immediately report to the nearest health center, and necessary testing will be done.
  10. If the tourist tests positive after arrival, they will have to undergo institutional isolation as per existing health protocols.

SWIMMING

It is necessary to look at the noticeboard before swimming at the beaches. The Andaman sea is usually harmless for swimming and looks welcoming but has some possibly dangerous marine animals such as salt-water crocodiles and jellyfish. Though such incidents are rare, visitors should observe some precautions for a safe and enhanced swimming experience.

  1. Only swim on beaches where notice boards are declaring affirmation.
  2. Do not go swimming while drunk.
  3. Make sure you are not swimming alone.
  4. Always consult the lifeguards before entering the sea.
  5. Raise your hand and call out for help from the lifeguards if assistance is needed.
  6. Do not swim further than the boundaries established.
  7. If you are not a good swimmer, use lifejackets.
  8. Do not touch any unknown creatures in the sea.

TRAVELING TO THE NORTH ANDAMANS

While going to the Middle and North Andamans you will travel through the reserved forests of the islands. The forests are home to the Jarawa tribes, which is an attraction to the travelers. It is a penal offence to interact with the tribes in any way, such as talking to them, clicking their pictures or offering them food. For your safety, the administration of Andaman and Nicobar Islands organizes a convoy which is thoroughly guarded.

WATERSPORTS ACTIVITIES

The diving instructors in the Andaman Islands are professionals and with the strict Administration, it is extremely safe for tourists to Scuba Dive. A dive instructor is always present with you guides you through your session, as well as a rescue team on the boat.

Diver sectors are ordered to frequently sanitize and disinfect their equipment. The COVID-19 cases in the Andaman Islands are almost negligible and all the safety protocols are rigidly being followed to make sure that tourists as well as the islanders are safe. In addition to that, tourists are not allowed on the islands unless they carry a negative COVID test report.
