Baratang Island, situated in the Andaman Islands, is a part of the North and Middle Andaman administrative district. This beautiful island falls under the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is approximately 110 kilometers north of Port Blair, the main city in the region. How to Reach Baratang:
Baratang is an Island, and as of now is only connected by Boat.
For tourist visiting the Island, has to park their vehicle in Reserve Area Middle Strait, and cross by boat to Middle Strait also called Baratang.
Or one can even board their vehicle in the vehicle ferry to cross the same, But its only needed if you are going beyond Baratang.
Note: No boats from Port Blair or any Island goes to Baratang as of now. // You need to charter if need.
What to See:
- Lime Stone Cave (By Small 10+2 Boat) + with Pass though the mangroves // Suggested to visit as rated by Fellow Guests.
- Mud Volcano, This was erupting in small bubbles types years back. // Now not suggested to visit, Rated by fellow guests.
- Balu Dera Beach: This is a Fantastic beach.. great for Sunbasking and Swimming. // For a Day trip this is not recommended, as we may not have much time for it. // Suggested if overnight stay.
- Parrot Island: This is just the best part of the tour.. one can observe 100’s of parrots landing on a tiny Island, the charter boat departs by 1600 Hrs, so a overnight stay is mandatory here.
